Winter Weather Advisory Issued for the City of Alexandria
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, which includes the City of Alexandria. The advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 5.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to begin in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas around sunrise on Saturday, with moderate to heavy snowfall expected Saturday afternoon. It is expected that 1 to 2 inches of snow will accumulate before the snow tapers off in the evening. Temperatures during the day will be in the upper 30s.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. The City urges residents to be prepared for slippery conditions and limited visibilities, and to use caution when driving.
